Enrollment & Admissions

Admissions always begins with a private tour and meeting with our Director of Operations and our Montessori Program Director. At this time, you will be able to visit a classroom, see our program in action, as well as learn more about the Montessori Method of education and learning. This is also an opportunity to have your initial questions addressed and answered.

During the initial visit, an information packet will be provided that outlines the special Lewinsville Montessori School approach and includes the forms necessary for the child(ren) to be considered for enrollment.

Please Note: filling out these forms from the website does not constitute acceptance and/or enrollment into the school. An official offer will be made once the Admissions and Enrollment processes have been completed.

To begin the Admissions Process and to schedule your private tour, please contact us by e-mail: directorlewmontessori@gmail.com or by telephone: 703-356-4691 and ask for Elizabeth Garcia.
Once an offer of admission has been made and accepted, all of the forms have been received and the Registration fee has been paid, your child(ren) will be eligible for enrollment.

Enrollment is offered on a rolling-admission basis throughout the school year as space becomes available. Consideration is given to the age and gender of the child(ren) so as to create and maintain a balanced distribution in each classroom environment. This is especially important in the Nido III and Casa dei Bambini/Children's House multi-age programs.
Lewinsville Montessori School is open year round, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am - 6:30 pm, one of the very few in the Northern Virginia area with this calendar. (Please note: during the COVID pandemic, we have instituted a staggered entry/dismissal schedule).  This schedule allows working families to enroll their children in an authentic Montessori program with a calendar well beyond the traditional school day/year calendar of most Montessori programs.

Tuition varies according to the child's age and the services provided. Rates are set annually. For your information, 2020-21 rates are as follows:

  • Nido Infants (6 weeks - 24 mos): $1845 (sibling rate* is $1755) Ratio: 1:4
  • Nido Toddler (24 mos - 36 mos): $1845 (sibling rate* is $1755) Ratio: 1:5
  • Casa dei Bambini/Children's House (36 mos-5+yrs): $1645 (sibling rate* is $1565) Ratio: 1:8

Children generally transition to the next class under the following conditions:

  1. He/She is age appropriate.  Licensing requires that children not be placed in the next level until they have reached the correct age.
  2. Space is available in the room.  In the event that a child is age ready but space is not yet available, the child’s current teachers will provide age appropriate learning opportunities.  All of our staff are very knowledgeable of the developmental needs of the children in the various stages of early childhood education.  A Montessori program is designed to meet a variety of developmental needs within each classroom environment.
  3. The child is developmentally ready as well as the appropriate age.  In the event he/she is not developmentally ready, they remain in their current classroom until the proper development occurs.

* Sibling discount applies to older child(ren). Other fees include a one-time, nonrefundable registration fee of $100 per child to be paid at the time of registration. A security deposit of $200 is due on the first day of attendance and is refunded ONLY if notice of withdrawal is given one month in advance, starting on the first day of each month. A bi-annual activity fee of $100 is due on January 1st and July 1st (fee is prorated based on date of actual enrollment).

PLEASE NOTE: Full day, full year Montessori programs  are in great demand in the Metro DC area. We usually have a waitlist for all of our programs.  Consider getting your name on the waitlist today!!

Our Director is available to answer your questions and to schedule visits to the center. For the safety of the children, we require that initial visits be by appointment only. Please call (703) 356-4691 and ask to speak to Elizabeth Garcia.
Dear Parents: We are happy that you have chosen Lewinsville Montessori School for your child(ren). Welcome to our community! The information that we ask in these forms is based on the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers, Department of Social Services, Commonwealth of Virginia. Please answer completely and with the most accurate information possible. All these forms must be at the school before or by the child’s first day in order for the child to start.

Because you are requested to show proof of identity (original documents) for your child, we suggest you make an appointment with us prior to the first day of school. This will ensure a smooth transition for everyone as well as give you another opportunity to go over any questions that you may have.
