Enrollment & Admissions

Admissions always begins with a private tour and meeting with our Director of Operations and our Montessori Program Director. At this time, you will be able to visit a classroom, see our program in action, as well as learn more about the Montessori Method of education and learning. This is also an opportunity to have your initial questions addressed and answered.

During the initial visit, an information packet will be provided that outlines the special Lewinsville Montessori’s approach and includes the forms necessary for the child(ren) to be considered for enrollment.

Please Note: filling out these forms from the website does not constitute acceptance and/or enrollment into the school. An official offer will be made once the Admissions and Enrollment processes have been completed.  Lewinsville Montessori provides only full-time care for children and does not offer any part-time care options.

  1. Send inquiry to [email protected] OR submit contact form under our “Contact Us” tab.
  2. Schedule a tour (in-person or virtual) on Tuesdays – Thursdays, 10:30am – 2:30pm
  3. If interested in Lewinsville Montessori after touring the facility, notify us to fill out and submit a Basic Information form along with payment of $150.00 NONREFUNDABLE waitlist fee. **This fee does not guarantee admissions**
  4. If and when a space becomes available, LM will contact prospect parent(s) from the waitlist on a first come, first serve basis.
  5. If prospective parent(s) accept the space, a $250.00 security deposit must be paid to hold the space:
    • a. Start date must be determined at such time.
    • b. You can only push your start date once to an additional month. If the child does not start when scheduled, the security deposit is forfeited, and the child may return to the waitlist at the discretion of the parent(s).
  6. Transition period: All enrollments start on the 1st of the month, and the transition period starts 3 days prior to the first day of enrollment. (LM does not charge for the transition period)
  7. Schedule is as follows:
    • a. Day 1: 8:30am – 9:30am
    • b. Day 2: 8:30am – 10:30am
    • c. Day 3: 8:30am – 12:30pm
  8. All forms must be returned to LM administration on or before the first full start date. See list of forms below:
    • a. Enrollment Agreement
    • b. Enrollment Information
    • c. VA School Entrance Health Form (Immunization Record MUST be included and form MUST be completed by a doctor)
    • d. Authorization for Emergency Treatment
    • e. Over-the-Counter (OTC) Form
    • f. Safe Transport of Children
    • g. Medication Authorization Form (If applicable)

Enrollment is offered on a rolling-admission basis throughout the school year as space becomes available. Consideration is given to the age and gender of the child(ren) so as to create and maintain a balanced distribution in each classroom environment. This is especially important in the Nido III and Casa dei Bambini/Children’s House multi-age programs.

Children generally transition to the next class under the following conditions:

  1. The child is age appropriate. Licensing requires that children not be placed in the next level until they have reached the correct age.
  2. Space is available in the room. If a child is age ready, but space is not yet available, the child’s teachers will provide age-appropriate learning opportunities. All our staff are very knowledgeable about the developmental needs of the children in the various stages of early childhood education. A Montessori program is designed to meet a variety of developmental needs within each classroom environment.
  3. The child is developmentally ready as well as age appropriate. In the event the child is not developmentally ready, they remain in their current classroom until the proper development occurs.

Note: Children will transition into the next classroom in January and September of every school year unless space becomes available sooner and the conditions above are met.

Snacks (morning and afternoon) are provided for all children except for infants in Nido I. Parents are required to bring for infants their own food, formula, or breast milk. Children must bring their lunch from home if not participating in the Schoolhouse Grill lunch service.

OTHER FEES/CREDITS:

Waitlist/Registration Fee

A one-time non refundable fee of $150.00 per child to be paid to place a child in our waitlist. The anticipated enrollment is established at this time. If the space becomes available for a child, the waitlist fee is then considered a registration fee. If space is unavailable for the requested start date, the fee remains nonrefundable.

Security Deposit

A refundable security deposit of $250.00 is due one month prior to the first day of attendance. The security deposit ensures the enrollment space for the scheduled first day of enrollment and 30 days beyond the start date. After that time, if the child does not take the space, the space and security deposit are forfeited and the process for admission along with fees must be restarted. The security deposit is only refunded if written notice of withdrawal is given one month in advance (starting with the first day of the month) and there are no outstanding balances.

Semi-Annual Activity & Materials Fee

A nonrefundable semi-annual activity and materials fee of $100.00 per child is due at the time of enrollment (prorated) and then on each January 1 and July 1 to help offset classroom only expenses such as Montessori materials, furniture, playground equipment, supplies, and special activities such as artists-in-residence programs.

Tuition Payments & Late Fees

Tuition payments must be received on or before the first day of each month. A 7% late fee will be charged to all payments made after the first day of the month. Tuition payments that are three or more calendar days overdue will be sufficient reason for immediate termination of the child from the center program. Any deposit fees will be applied to the delinquent fee and will be deemed non refundable.

Sibling Discount

A sibling discount of 10% will be applied to the older child(ren) tuition rate.

Referral Tuition Credits

Parents who refer other families, who subsequently enroll and are fully paid for at least two months, will receive a $250.00 tuition credit for each referral.

Absences due to Vacations, Holidays, Inclement Weather, Emergency Closures & Illness

As the operational expenses of the center do not decrease due to any individual child’s absences, the child’s classroom enrollment is maintained if tuition payments are current. Tuition is paid at the set monthly rate for all children enrolled on a full-time basis with no deductions for illness, vacation, inclement weather, emergency closing, or holidays.

Final Month Tuition

After written notice of withdrawal has been given one full month in advance (starting at the first day of each month) the final month’s tuition must be paid in full. Final month tuition will not be prorated based on days in attendance with the exception of rising Kindergarteners.
